if your using a gmail account, create anew label in the gmail interface, restart outlook and eventually the new folder will show up. Probaby similar to doing it in Mac Mail. Definitely an intentional non-compete change to the software.
Can't create new folders - this option is now greyed out on new Macbook pro
I'm syncing with a Gmail.
Also can't seem to add any tags below, just get error that I don't have permission.

2022-12-01T20:05:08.53+00:00 I can add folders in my Microsoft 365 account, but not in my Gmail account. The solution is to use the Mail app on your Mac to add folders which are then available in Outlook.
however, I cannot move emails from one account's inbox to the other account's folder. I hope that's clear.

2023-01-30T20:09:25.47+00:00 I reverted back to the (old) Outlook Version (not even sure how I did that!)....which allowed me to add a new folder. then, changed back to the new version, (which I had to do at this point because the older version did not capture current emails, etc.), and the added folder was there. (make sure you have backups just in case .....)
