Services & subscriptions missing Office 2019 keys

We have several account.microsoft.com office accounts, which we use to register our OEM copies of Office 2019 when we buy them (25 copies per account).

We then use the office product key / date to track each copy of office so we know the key for each machine just in case we have to reinstall office.

Microsoft seem to have stopped publishing the office keys on the Services & subscriptions list so now all we have if a list saying office 2019 & the date it was installed. If we now register more than 1 copy of office in a day we have no idea which copy it would be in the list.

If we then have to reinstall office in the future, we do not now know which office installer to use in the list if more than one copy of office was activated that day. We used to note the serial number / install date for each copy so when we activated it we new which copy it was.

Has anyone else encountered this issue, if so, is there a way around it.

We all have the same problem. Can we have a petition to bring back the old UI where we can see the licenses installed in our machines. Microsoft gave us a hard time finding each one of them. We also called Microsoft support regarding this matter, but they can not answer us on what to do about the issue, they can't give a solution.

The big problem is when we need to reinstall office in the future. Right now we are having a hard time because because we cannot see the product license for each machine. And most especially we have multiple Microsoft account because as you know it has a limit of license record per account.

Do you have a work around about this issue we are facing? We already did that script commands but it doesn't help and other third party open source doesn't help either. TYIA.

Same issue here. Multiple 2019 Office H&B retail activations under a single MS account. Now it appears there is no way to match a specific key with a specific computer.

Has anyone found a solution? Have you heard anything from MS?

What we have found to be the easiest to be able to identify the accounts is to use the computer name itself as part of the "outlook.com" email address that is created for the account. Then there is no mistaking which computer goes with which account...

For example... if the actual machine name is "userpc01"
Computer name: userpc01
MS Account: userpc01@outlook.com

Now you have a MS Office account that is easily identified as to which computer it belongs to.

Hi @Meeee-1869,
Welcome to Q&A forum!

In order to protect the privacy and rights of users, we may currently only be able to find the last five digits of the product key through the following script commands.
For 64-bit Office: cd C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16
For 32-bit Office: cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16

Then run: cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus, the result is shown in the figure below.

If you need a complete product key (25 characters), I suggest you contact Microsoft directly for support.
Hope the information could help you.

IT does NO GOOD to know the last 5 digits of an unknown key.

The problem is - Microsoft has REMOVED the product keys from displaying in the office license page Office 2019.

I would like to make an official request to Mirosoft to revert the license back to way it was a few weeks ago. I too track my keys via this page.

When I have to do multiple installs in day, I track the last 5 and make sure NOT to re-use that key, but now - CAN'T!!

yes we have this issue too, for beginning is easy to track and store on one place, now? chaos

I was hoping to use cscript to at LEAST have the last 5 digits but those are now missing too159493-screenshot-2021-12-21-163811.png

The cscript command still works... at least it is on our machines... you just need to be sure you're pointing it at the correct location. Of course you're only going to get the last 5 of the install key.

There are no other locations for office on these machines. I've been running the cscript command for years on these computers and always get a result. It's only recently now where nothing pulls up and i've searched both \Program Files\ & \Program Files (x86)\ with no other Microsoft Office folders being found. Sometimes it gives me the last 5 for the "grace period" version but thats it. I've also tried uninstalling Office and re-installing it from the site to see if it will generate the last 5 but that doesn't work either.

Even if it did give the last 5 this isn't an ideal solution. It seems like Microsoft simply don't want people to have have access to the key any longer and just disabled the ability to view it without saying anything.

Yes, I too have this problem. We now have no way of tracking keys from the office web site. Its only done via activation date. Well that doesn't help at all if you have multiple copies of Office 2019 from the same date and you have multiple accounts because MS only allows 25 copies of office per account EXACTLY like the previous poster stated. I also request that the keys be shown again when clicking the arrow. We purchase these keys they should be available to us - PERIOD.

Same problem here. It now makes it impossible to keep track of which PC is activated with each office key, and any new licences cannot be activated at all (except by signing in with the 'group' account). Oddly the Office 2013 and 2016 keys are still shown, its just the Office 2019 ones which are hidden.
Stop messing things around Microsoft. :-(

We also have this problem. We are managing over 50 OEM products across our company network on approximately 40 machines using several accounts (would be much easier if we could just use one!). This was a quick and convenient solution for us, in particular because our machines are not connected to the internet. We keep a register of all product keys and associated devices, so this is not a problem for managing our current product keys as we just download the offline installer. But it does make it more difficult to identify new product keys when we activate additional OEM products.

Microsoft, do you understand that there are some organisations that just simply cannot use volume licensing and your subscription based products that require an internet connection?

You are slowly driving us away from your products, we are already looking for alternatives to Office because it is becoming more and more difficult to manage Microsoft software. Fair enough, we are a very small fish, but I know there are many more like us that are equally frustrated at how difficult you make it to run your software legitimately.

I also have the same issue. I need to install Office 2019 but the keys are gone that I used to identify the copies. As the other posters have stated this is a problem for many Office users.

Same problem in my case - several accounts, many office packages but now I completely lost tracking on which machines which particular product is installed (Office 2013, 2016, 2019). I understand if you have 1 PC, 1 office and 1 ms account - simple BUT in corporate world things are not so simple and trivial. I was relaying on ms portal where product keys were visible and I didn't store them anywhere locally and I know I am not the only one with same system of organizing things.
I think there is no need to explain how tracking of 1 office package installed 5 yrs ago goes in this case, especially if you have 20 packages registered on the same account and 4 of these were registered on the same day - no way to manage without product keys. Please reverse it to previous state and keep them logical and simple!

We have the same problem here at our business. This change simply devastates my ability to purchase and assign MS Office licenses to new users/computers at our company.

Please, please, PLEASE revert the account portal back to show product keys as before. Signing in with a Microsoft account for activation is not sufficient as you cannot tell which purchased seat you are activating on the machine.

My clients will not create 1 Microsoft account per redemption key and manually reinstall Office on pre-installed imaged desktops to activate.

When we redeem a retail office license, we MUST have access to the installation key.

The only ridiculous alternative solution, for now, is to call the activation phone line and reactivate the same license key over and over again.
Since we have proof of purchase from a legitimate reseller, lying to the automated system about the number of devices should not be actionable.

Another frustrating situation is my legitimate Office 2019 reseller ($215 per license) is now receiving installation keys from Microsoft.

I explained to them that I can only accept redemption keys, which get assigned to a Microsoft account and is basically a "proof of purchase" with a date.

In case of a BSA audit, having a Microsoft office account with all purchases or redeemed office licenses is very helpful.

I also don't know why Microsoft allows Google to sell ads to illegal Microsoft Office vendors.

https://www.google.com/search?q=office+2019&tbm=shop

It is clear that Microsoft does not want small businesses to purchase retail licenses

If Microsoft cared about small businesses, they would improve their portal (https://account.microsoft.com/services) and allow labels to identify which machine the license is assigned to.

Exporting to CSV for internal compliance auditing would also be really helpful.

I have the same trouble. I don't mind MS hind the Key. However, If the portal can display the Machine name, or let us add note to each product we purchased, that will work. I know you want everyone to have one MS account or everyone just jump on MS365, but many people have multiple computers. How can these people know which product is activated on which computer?

My guess is MS will stop selling the retail version of Office in the next couple of years. They will only offer Office via Office365 so everyone will need an Office365 account. I bet that is what they are going to do next.
