Hey guys,
I'm just trying to use the "passwordless account"-feature of my Microsoft account, but when I tried to use RDP it seems not to work yet. I'm logged in with my Microsoft-account on both devices (Windows 11 Pro) but RDP is asking for a password instead of triggering to acknowledge the logon via my mobile device.
Any ideas?

I feel your pain and am had the same experience once converting both my MS accounts to passwordless with the use of an authenticator phone app. After sifting through all the "how do I login to my machine without having to enter a password" posts to get to this actual issue, before arriving at this post thread. I'm upset but not really surprised there's no true way to login or access a system via RDP with a passwordless account scenario. My only recourse and suggestion - and forgive me if this is too obvious - was/is to create a local administrator account on the system you need remote access to and logon that way. It worked for me and isn't ideal since the local admin account is using a different user profile, but I can access the box remotely.

eth10747 6 Reputation points2022-04-18T02:39:14.643+00:00 I know, I have had this issue since I enabled passwordless on my account back in Sept or Oct. I would use RDP to my laptop, but I had to make a new local account just to remedy the problem. Now I want to use RDP on my PC which has my MS-passwordless account and, seems to be no direct fix for it, which is a shame to say the least..
I do hope there is a fix/solution to this issue that doesn't require anything aside from the passwordless account itself. Not sure if you can add a user to use as RDP account to log into the MS-passwordless acount?

who the hell is setting this up and not telling anyone........the way this sign in to RDP with a 2FA Microsoft account is to change the PIN setting to "Include letters and symbols"
and put your password in there (A reminder Very strong password please in case someone try to attack you when your computer is on public networks, and RDP itself still don't support 2FA this days)as at the screenshot below, I can RDP in this way through RDP protocol
this is tested on window11 version 21H2 (os build 22000.832)

which disabled (maybe) credential guard on my laptop.
i tried to log onto my remote machines via RDP... same issue.I used my old "passwordless" password (it must have been cached somewhere) and this worked for me.

- Start the Windows Registry editor (type regedit in the "Start > Run" dialog)
- Navigate to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa >"LimitBlankPasswordUse"=dword:00000001
- Change LimitBlankPasswordUse to 0 (zero) to enable the use of blank passwords!
"1" to prevent blank passwords over the network!
