Share content in a meeting

Teams makes it easy to share content during live meetings. Educators can:

  • Share computer sound to stream audio from their computer to meeting participants. They can use it to play a video or audio clip as part of a presentation.
  • Share their entire screen, including notifications and other desktop activity. Sharing the desktop is a great option when educators need to seamlessly share multiple windows.
  • Share just one window (without notifications or desktop activity). Sharing a window works well when educators only need to show one thing and want to keep the rest of their screen to themselves.
  • Start a Microsoft Whiteboard to collaborate virtually with others in real time.
  • Share content from the presenter’s camera. Educators can use their device’s camera to share a nearby physical whiteboard or live video in real time. They can also use an external camera to share a document.
  • Collaborate live by sharing a file that everyone can work on together.
  • Present from PowerPoint Live. Educators can see their speaker notes, slides, and audience while they present.

PowerPoint Live in Teams meetings

PowerPoint slideshows with PowerPoint Live give both the presenter and audience an inclusive and engaging experience. It combines the best parts of presenting in PowerPoint with the connection and collaboration of a Microsoft Teams meeting.

With PowerPoint Live, the presenter has a unique view that lets them control the presentation while staying engaged with the audience. While presenting, they can still see people’s video, raised hands, reactions, and chats as needed.

Audience options in PowerPoint Live

Audience members can interact with the presentation and personalize the viewing experience with:

  • Captions
  • High contrast slides
  • Slides translated into their native language

Presenter layout options when sharing in Teams

When educators share their screen or a window, Teams helps them decide if they want their attendees to focus on the content, the educator, or both. If attendees need to see both, educators can superimpose themselves over the content they’re sharing. Educators have three presenter modes to choose from.

Standout

In Standout mode, the presenter appears on top of the shared content.

Side-by-side

In Side-by-side mode, the presenter appears next to the shared content.

Reporter

In Reporter mode, the presenter appears in a picture-in-picture (PIP) window in the lower-right corner of the content area.
