Exercise - Visualize your data in Power BI Desktop
This exercise is written to use the Cronus sample company from the US version of Business Central. You might need to make adjustments to the steps if you use the sample company from your country or region.
Scenario
In the previous exercise, you imported your data into Power BI Desktop. You also added a calculated column and a measure. It's now time to visualize your data and to add visuals to your report.
Steps
In the Report pane in Power BI Desktop, open the Visualizations pane and select the Card visual.
Drag the Card visual onto your report.
Next select the mNoOfItemsWithNegAvailability field from the fields list and drag it onto the Card pane visual.
Repeat the above steps to also add Card panes for the Availability and Inventory fields.
In the Report pane in Power BI Desktop, open the Visualizations pane and select the Clustered Column Chart visual.
Drag the visual onto your report.
Next select the ItemDescription, Inventory, and Availability fields from the field list and drag them onto the visual.
In the Report pane in Power BI Desktop, open the Visualizations pane and select the Pie Chart visual.
Drag the visual onto your report.
Next select the ItemDescription, and Inventory fields from the fields list and drag them onto the visual.
In the Report pane in Power BI Desktop, open the Visualizations pane and select the Slicer visual.
Drag the visual onto your report.
Next select the item Category field from the fields list and drag it onto the visual.
In the Report pane in Power BI Desktop, open the Visualizations pane and select the TreeMap visual.
Drag the visual onto your report.
Next select the item Category, ItemDescription, Inventory and Availability fields from the fields list and drag them onto the visual.
In the Report pane in Power BI Desktop, open the Visualizations pane and select the Matrix visual.
Drag the visual onto your report.
Next select the item Category, ItemDescription, Inventory and Availability fields from the fields list and drag them onto the visual.
At the left bottom of the Report pane, right-click and select: Rename Page.
Add the Item No field to the report filters.
Your report is now ready. Save it, and give it the name Items Availability.
Next select the Publish button to publish your report to the Power BI Service.
