Exercise – Run a capacity load, and run an item forecast

Completed

You have been asked to run a capacity load on all maintenance schedules, starting in January and ending in March, broken down by maintenance job type.

Run a capacity load

Follow these steps to run a capacity load:

  1. Go to Asset management > Inquiries > Capacity load to open the Calculate capacity load dialog box.
  2. In the Calculate capacity load dialog box, enter 1 January 2020 in the Start date/time field and 31 March 2020 in the End date/time field.
  3. Because the request was for maintenance schedules, select Yes on the Include maintenance schedule toggle button to include maintenance schedule lines in the calculation.
  4. Because work orders were not included in the request, you can leave the Include work order button as No.
  5. Leave the Level field at 0 to see a detailed result that shows all maintenance schedule lines on all the functional location levels to which they are related.
  6. Select OK to start the calculation.
  7. When the report appears, select Maintenance job type from the Group by maintenance job section.

Run an item forecast

After you have calculated the capacity load, management now wants you to run an item forecast to determine what asset types will be needed to complete the maintenance schedules.

  1. Go to Asset management > Inquiries > Item forecast to open the Calculate item forecast dialog box.
  2. Because this request is for the same time frame as the previous request, enter 1 January 2020 in the Start date/time field and 31 March 2020 in the End date/time field.
  3. Select Yes on the Include maintenance schedule button and leave the Include work order button as No.
  4. Leave the Level field to 0 to see all maintenance schedule lines for all functional locations and to ensure that the reports have the same information.
  5. When you are done, select OK to start the calculation.
  6. When the report is done, select Asset type from the Group by asset section.
