Use online meetings to connect anytime, anywhere

Completed

Work gets done when individuals connect, communicate, and collaborate. Online meetings can be easily managed with Meet Now in Teams, allowing educators to meet anytime, anywhere—regardless of physical location.

Meet Now

This video describes how to meet with one’s current team using Meet Now.

These examples show how a Teams meeting can save time and still get work done:

  • A newly appointed judge has agreed to meet with second year law students to discuss her pathway from lawyer to judge. Using online meeting, a link is emailed to the judge inviting her to virtually join the class to the students.
  • A biology professor is authoring a new textbook that must go to press soon so the textbook can begin being used next year. The professor schedules a recurring online meeting through Teams to work directly with the editor.
  • The psychology department needs to meet this afternoon. The department members are scattered with some in the field doing research and others teaching at a nearby campus. Using Meet Now enables the department to have the meeting without rearranging schedules or fighting traffic to get back to main campus.
  • An educator teaching a graduate level course with another professor needs to plan the syllabus for a new semester. She sees that her colleague is online so they use Meet Now to refine their collaboration and complete the syllabus.

These are just a few examples. To meet online with select people or with people from outside the current organization, use Meetings within Teams.

Anyone can join the meeting for free. Other organizations don't need Teams to join the meeting. They simply need to select a meeting link to join.

Your turn: Practice starting a meeting with a colleague using the Meet Now feature. Spend some time familiarizing yourself with the various tools within a Teams meeting, including sharing your screen.
