Embed video content into a Schoology course

Completed

When using the Schoology LMS, educators connect to many information sources. Embedding media in a Schoology course, such as video from Microsoft Stream, allows students to access content they can play, pause, reflect on, and revisit as needed to support their learning. All while in the LMS environment. When educators help students reduce the time spent navigating between programs and platforms, there's more time for students to acquire knowledge and demonstrate their learning.

Microsoft Stream provides a place to host and organize video content that can be safely shared with students and colleagues across an organization. In Stream, an educator can upload content and share with people (students or staff), groups, and channels. Educators use the group sharing options inside Stream to set video viewing permissions to share with the class team. When Stream videos are embedded in Schoology, students can access content tailored just for them. For example, a high school history educator records a weekly welcome message in Microsoft Stream introducing the learning concepts for the week. The educator embeds the video on a page in a Schoology course. Students revisit the video in the course as needed, and the educator references the video in touch points throughout the week.

When embedding Microsoft Stream videos in Schoology courses, here are a few features available to support students with diverse needs:

  • Increase or decrease the video playback speed,
  • Adjust the video playback size, and
  • Add video captions.
