Data export components

Completed

In scenarios where organizations might need to export finance and operations apps data for data unification, data warehouse solution, or any other reason, finance and operations apps provides the following services:

  • Bring Your Own Database (BYOD) – The BYOD feature lets administrators configure their own database and then export one or more data entities that are available in the application into the database.

For more information, see Bring your own database (BYOD).

  • Export to Data Lake – This service will incrementally export data from finance and operations apps to Microsoft Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2. Data that is exported from finance and operations apps is stored in Common Data Model format, which provides semantic consistency across apps and deployments. Data lakes provide cloud storage that is less expensive than the cloud storage that relational databases provide. Therefore, large amounts of data can be stored in the cloud. When you are exporting data from finance and operations apps, the Export to Data Lake feature should be preferable in comparison to BYOD.

For more information, see Azure Data Lake overview.
