Enable engineering product categories
An engineering product category must be assigned to every engineering product. You will complete this assignment when you run the Convert to engineering product wizard. Engineering product categories must exist for all relevant standard products before you can convert those products.
Engineering categories set default values and policies for the engineering products to manage products that are based on their engineering categories. The engineering category must match the product that you assign it to.
For example, the product type and dimension group must match the product and its engineering category. Because the wizard can only convert to engineering products where the version is not tracked in transactions, the engineering categories that you select must have the Track version in transactions option set to No.
