Create job journal templates

Completed

With job journals, you can post to the job ledger, the resource ledger, and the item ledger. You can never post to the general ledger from a job journal. Job journals are used to post resource and item usage to jobs.

To set up a job journal template, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Search for page icon in the upper-right corner of the page, enter job journal templates, and then select the related link.

  2. In the Name field, enter a name.

  3. In the Description field, enter a description.

  4. In the No. Series field, enter the number series that you want to use to automatically assign a number when creating journal lines.

  5. In the Posting No. Series field, enter the number series that you want to use to automatically assign a number when posting the journal line. If you leave this field blank, the program uses the number in the Document No. field of the journal line as the posting number.

  6. The Source Code field is filled in automatically by Business Central.

  7. In the Reason Code field, you can enter a code that explains why you are posting transactions through this journal template. This field is not mandatory.

  8. The Increment Batch Name field specifies if batch names that are using this template are automatically incremented. For example, the posting that follows BATCH001 is automatically named BATCH002.
