The Dynamics 365 Commerce extensibility model gives in-house developers and system integrators the ability to create extensions and add new features to the products that are consuming and presenting these services and their data into e-Commerce websites.

Retailers often want to integrate other services and data into their e-Commerce sites. When a retailer needs customizations beyond what the e-Commerce Module library provides, Commerce extensibility allows them to achieve their goal with less development time and investment.

Commerce allows customizations to provide the same value to the operations team as the e-Commerce Module library, including UX modules that adapt to different looks in different markets and service integrations that activate instantly. With this extensibility, the retailer’s development team can create new templates, modules, variants for a module, or use the open-source community to take an existing piece of code (or module) and modify it for use.

The goal is to ensure that the developer’s time is productive and to simplify the process of building customizations.
