Introduction
Suppose you're the lead system engineer and server administrator at Contoso, Ltd., a medium-size electronics company based in London with a branch office in New York. Most of Contoso's compute environment runs on-premises on Windows Server, and its cloud services are under evaluation.

Prerequisites
- Basic knowledge of data protection and security concepts and technologies.

- To create and publish sensitivity labels: Administrative access to a labeling admin center such as the Microsoft Purview Compliance Portal, Microsoft Defender portal, or Exchange admin center.
- To use the Information Protection scanner: An Azure tenant ID, a Microsoft Entra account, and administrative access to a Windows Server client computer with a SQL Server instance.
