Use Copilot with opportunities

While working with Opportunity records, you can use Copilot to help stay more informed, and provide you with a better understanding of the record. For example, copilot can help you stay current by providing you with the latest news about the account associated with an opportunity.

Copilot's capabilities as it relates to Opportunities is as follows:

  • Record summarization: Provides you with a quick summary of your opportunity records.

  • Recent changes: Summarizes any changes that were made to your opportunity records.

  • Meeting preparation: Helps prepare for your upcoming meetings effortlessly, summarizing relevant information from the opportunity records that are associated with the meeting.

  • News updates: Helps you stay current with the latest news about the account associated with the opportunity.

Summarize an opportunity

One of the easiest ways that Copilot can make you more productive is by reducing the amount of time you spend looking through data. Copilot can provide you with a summary of your opportunity. Your organization's administrator can identify up to 10 fields on the opportunity record that will be included in the summary. This typically includes fields such as title, description, estimated revenue and more.

In the Copilot side pane, select Get info > Summarize opportunity. Copilot will provide you with a summary of the record. Depending on where you are in the application, opportunity summarization will work as follows:

  • If you have a specific record open, Copilot summarizes that record only.

  • If you're in the grid view (viewing multiple records at one), Copilot will list the records you own.

    • You can hover over an individual record and select Summarize to receive a summary of that record.

Additionally, you can get a list of changes for a specific opportunity by typing / after the prompt, and then start typing the name or opportunity. For example, Summarize Opportunity / 5 Café Lite Espresso would autofill the title of the opportunity, and provide you with something like the image below.

If you want to include the summary in an email, chat, or something similar, you can select the Copy button, and paste the summary into another application.

Additionally, at the bottom of the summary record, you can select the Get latest news related to account button. Copilot will use leverage Bing to identify related news articles about the account associated with the Opportunity.

Often, having additional information about a record can enrich your data and provide a clearer picture of your opportunity. For example, by being provided with the latest news about an account that is associated with your opportunity, you can be better equipped for conversations you have with the customer. With Copilot, you can enrich your opportunities with information from Dynamics 365 Sales, LinkedIn, and Bing.

  • Dynamics 365 Sales: Copilot will identify possible contacts, based on the opportunity name, phone number, email address, and the company name.

  • Bing: Using Bing, you can be provided with the latest news about the account.

  • LinkedIn: If you have a LinkedIn Sales Navigator license, you can be provided with suggested LinkedIn profiles for the contact.

When you summarize an opportunity record, Copilot will examine the opportunity, and look for possible matching records. When Copilot finds possible matching contact records, it lists them after the summary. A Connect button allows you to connect the opportunity with a matching record.

Once Copilot connects the records, select Get updated opportunity summary to generate a new summary that includes information from the connected record.

Get recent changes to an opportunity

Copilot can help you catch up on any update's opportunity records in the last seven days or since you last signed in. While in the Copilot side pane, select the sparkle icon, select Ask questions > Show recent changes for opportunity, and select Enter.

  • If you have a record open, Copilot displays the list of recent changes to it.

  • If you're in the grid view, Copilot lists the records you own. Hover over a record and select Get updates.

To get the list of changes to a specific opportunity or opportunity, type / and then start typing the name of the opportunity or opportunity.
