Move and copy surveys across projects

Completed

Carefully planning projects and their corresponding surveys will help ensure that a project will provide the larger picture to an organization. Though you can add a survey to a project, and though it might be the appropriate place to put it, requirements and organization structures can change over time. A survey that was once in an Account Management project might now fit better within the Customer Support project. Dynamics 365 Customer Voice is flexible and provides a quick and simple approach for moving around surveys.

To move a survey from within a project, hover your cursor over the name of a survey, which will show an ellipsis (...) menu. Select the ellipsis for the option to move the survey. Moving the survey ensures that existing customizations, email templates, related flows in Power Automate, and existing survey responses will be moved along with the survey and not become lost. Satisfaction metrics won't be moved to the survey's new location, so you will need to set up those metrics again.

After you have selected the Move option, if only one survey exists in the project, then the project can no longer exist without a survey. The user who initiates the move will be informed that this action will delete the project. A survey can only be moved from one project to another if both projects (the source and the target) are owned by the same user.

Select the Move button, which will provide a list of all projects that exist within the same location or environment that the survey currently resides in. Recently accessed projects will display first, followed by a list of all projects. Choose a project from the list and then place the survey in the new project that you selected.

You can use the Copy option to duplicate a survey to place it within the same or a different project, but only within the same location or environment. Only the survey will be copied, along with customizations such as the theme, header, or logo. None of the survey responses, email templates, or flows in Power Automate are part of the copying process. After you have selected the Copy option from the ellipsis menu on the survey, choose which project that you want to move the copy into.

Using the Move and Copy functionalities to manage surveys will help you use an existing survey as a starting point to add or move to a new project. Additionally, these functionalities help you adjust and modify as necessary to meet new requirements. In the next unit, you will learn about the functionality of copying a project from one environment to another.
