Introduction - Explore contact master data

Completed

The master data records for the relationship management module in Business Central are contacts. A contact can be a company or a person. All external entities that you have business relationships with (for example, customers, prospective customers, vendors, lawyers, and consultants) can be recorded as contacts.

The Contact List page shows all contacts. You can distinguish between company contacts and people contacts by the text formatting used. Contacts that represent companies are shown in bold formatting and persons are not.

You can find more detailed information about contacts on the Contact Card page.

By using the Type field, you can define the contact as a company or a person. Contact information can include both general and specific details. Details about a contact typically include the contact's name, phone number, physical and email addresses, the code for the salesperson, and a language code.

The contact card page also includes a Privacy Blocked field. You can display the Privacy field by choosing Show more on the General FastTab. Under some privacy and personal data laws, a data subject has a right to restrict the processing of personal data. When such a request is received from a data subject, you can mark the data subject's record as blocked due to privacy. Business Central then will discontinue the processing of the subject's personal data.

With the Exclude From Segment field, you can prevent the contact record from becoming part of segments created, for example, to facilitate email campaigns.

You can use the Minor field to indicate if the person's age fails the definition of adulthood.
