Consume product ratings in omnichannel

To consume product ratings in an omni-channel, such as Store Commerce and in call centers, product ratings from the Ratings and Reviews service must be imported into the Commerce channel database. When product ratings are made available in an omnichannel, they can help customers indirectly during their interactions with sales associates. To consume product ratings, the following tasks are required:

  • Configure the Sync product ratings job as a batch job to synchronize product ratings from the Ratings and Reviews service.
  • Verify that the batch job for product rating synchronization was successful.
  • Make product ratings available at the Store Commerce.

To configure a batch job to synchronize product ratings, you will need to initialize the Commerce scheduler and verify that the RetailProductRating sub job exists.

To initialize the Commerce scheduler, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Retail and Commerce > Headquarters setup > Commerce scheduler > Initialize commerce scheduler. Alternatively, search for Initialize commerce scheduler.
  2. In the Initialize commerce scheduler dialog box, make sure that the Delete existing configuration option is set to No, and then select OK.

To verify that the sub job exists, go to Retail and Commerce > Headquarters setup > Commerce scheduler > Scheduler subjobs and check for a record named RetailProductRating.

If the sub job does not exist, you might already have run the Sync product ratings job and the 1040 CDX job before you initialized the Commerce scheduler. To resolve this issue, you will need to perform a full data sync by running the Full data sync job. You can run this job from the Retail and Commerce > Headquarters setup > Commerce scheduler > Channel database page, where you will select the 1040 – products job to run the full synchronization of products.

To import product ratings into Commerce from the Ratings and Reviews service, you will need the help of the Sync product ratings job batch job. By activating the batch job and setting up its recurrence properties, you will enable the automatic implementation of the job and the automated importing of product ratings into Commerce.

To verify that the Sync product ratings batch job was successful, check the Batch jobs page and locate the Pull product ratings batch job. If the details for the batch job contain the correct information regarding scheduled start date/time and the recurrence and running of the job, the Sync product ratings batch job has been successful.

The ratings and reviews solution in Commerce is an omnichannel solution. However, product ratings are not shown at the Store Commerce by default. To help customers see ratings and reviews when they are being helped by sales associates in the stores, you must turn on product ratings at the Store Commerce. To complete this task, you will need to create new configuration parameters in the Commerce parameters page, and then run the Distribution schedule to distribute the settings to the Store Commerce.
