Install assets on functional locations
When you have set up functional location structures, you will need to install assets on the necessary functional locations. It is important that you have assets set up in the application before you begin this process. To learn more about setting up assets in Supply Chain Management, see Introduction to Assets.
When you install assets on a functional location, the financial dimensions that are specified for the functional location can be transferred to the assets. This scenario is dependent on the setup of the functional location type that is selected for that functional location.
If you have created an asset structure, the entire structure must be installed on a functional location. Any related child assets (sub assets) that are related to the parent will also be installed on the functional location. In Asset Management, you can allow or disallow multiple parent assets on a functional location type. This feature allows you to install multiple assets on a functional location. You can complete this task on the Functional location types page.
After you have installed assets on a functional location, you can replace a parent asset or an asset structure if needed.
Install an asset on a functional location
Follow these steps to install an asset on a functional location:
Go to Asset Management > Common > Functional locations > All functional locations.
Select the functional location that you want to install an asset on.
On the Functional location tab on the Action Pane, select Install asset at location. The Install asset at location page will display.
Select the asset that you are installing on this functional location from the Asset drop-down list. This asset is the Parent asset that you are installing. If child assets that are related to the parent asset exist, these will automatically be included in the installation.
When you have selected the asset to install, the Attributes that are related to the asset will display. These attributes are set up on the asset.
In the Effective field, select the date and time when the asset installation is valid. After you have specified the date and time in the field, the costs for the assets and sub assets will be related to the functional location.
Select OK to install the asset. If the asset is already installed on another functional location, you will not be able to install it on another.
To view the assets that are installed on a functional location, select a functional location on the All functional locations list page, and then on the Functional locations tab on the Action Pane, select Assets.
