Development Milestones

Request Access

Before beginning development, you will need to be provisioned access to test resources, and your API applications will have to be enabled to access the job posting API endpoints. You can request access by completing the following steps:

Create API applications for the integration. You may create two API applications per integration - one for production, and another for development and testing. Please contact your LinkedIn Business Development point of contact and request to fill out the Partner Onboarding Form.

After the above steps, you are guided with test environment details that can be consumed for your development and testing. In order to test these APIs we will set up test organization which you can use to create and update test jobs. Please note that any jobs created to this page will be frequently closed and you should expect jobs created to this test organization to be short-lived.

Begin Development

Once your application is configured, you may begin making API requests and testing the integration.

In order to post jobs on behalf of customers, you may need to create a child API Key. Refer to Create and Configure Customer Application to know the steps. LinkedIn's Job Posting API follows Rest.li standards and requires OAuth. To learn more about Job Posting API, refer to Sync Basic or Promoted Jobs.

You can post any of the below two job categories:

If you are an Apply Connect partner then you can use Job Posting API to also enable onsite apply. To create Apply Connect jobs refer to

Create and Configure Customer Applications

If you are a LinkedIn Partner (for example, Applicant Tracking System or Job Distributor) implementing Job Posting for multiple customers, please follow below steps to complete the Job Posting Integration.

  1. Create and configure a customer(child) application for posting jobs on behalf of customer. The Provisioning API allows you to create API keys for each of your customers using the parent application provisioned by LinkedIn
  2. Once you have created customer application, you will need to store the API Key (client id for the customer application created by Provisioning API) and a LinkedIn Developer Application id for each of your customers. You should also persist the companyID (and contractID for Promoted Jobs Extension Schema) as provided by the customers when opting for posting jobs on LinkedIn
  3. For existing customers of Recruiter System Connect, Apply with LinkedIn or Apply Connect you will be using their existing customer API keys

Important

We expect partners to create only one application per customer account on your platform and use it to make all API calls such as Job Postings, RSC and Apply Connect. The customer account and its corresponsding application created via Provisioning API should strictly have 1:1 mapping.

ATS Customer Onboarding

In order to enable Job Posting for a Recruiter customer, your application requires implementing an onboarding widget to collect below essential details to post a job.

Field Note
organizationId The LinkedIn company page ID of LinkedIn Recruiter customer
contractId The contract ID of LinkedIn Recruiter customer. This is required only for posting paid jobs

Below Help Article links can be shared to help customers find their Contract and Company ID:

  1. For Company ID refer to this help center
  2. For Contract ID refer to this help center

Note

  • The value of integrationContext field will be urn:li:organization:"organizationId"
  • For Recruiter System Connect customers, integrationContext is provided by ATS customer onboarding widget. To know more, refer to Recruiter System Connect's Customer OnBoarding
  • For others, the value of integrationContext field can be constructed manually if the customer provides value for organizationId. In absence of this value, provide the company information via companyName field
  • Contract ID field is mandatory for Premium job postings
