The Microsoft code name “Quadrant” Details Workpad displays properties and relationships of items including the workspace, workpads, and items in workpads. It also displays the list of Collection Items (for a Folder, Schema, or Collection Reference). This topic describes the available Details Workpad UI components and their usage in the following tasks:

  • Viewing properties or relationships of an object.

  • Directly editing properties for an object.

Viewing and Editing Data in the Details Workpad

Open the Details Workpad by clicking Details on the View menu.

When you click anything in the “Quadrant” workspace, the Details Workpad updates with information about the item or UI element that you have clicked. For example, if you click an empty part of the workspace, properties and references for the workspace appear in the Properties subsection of the Details Workpad.

You can edit any property in the Details Workpad and observe how the change shows up immediately after committing the value. In addition, if the Details workpad is showing a collection, you can insert or delete items here just as in a normal workpad. To do so, right-click an item in the Details workpad and select Insert Item or Delete Item. You can also access the same commands in the Data menu. For more information, see Editing Data in "Quadrant".

Positioning the Details Workpad

A Details Workpad is a specialized workpad. Therefore, you can push, float, and move it around the workspace similar to what you can do with a workpad.

By default, the Details Workpad is floated. For more information about working with Workpads, see "Quadrant" Workpads.
