USB generic HID test

Systems that support USB Human Interface Devices (HID) must be tested with Microsoft's USB HID driver stack installed and a supported MUTT device.

Here is the list of supported MUTT devices.

  • SuperMUTT with firmware version 44 or above
  • Type-C SuperMUTT

Here is the list of unsupported MUTT devices.

  • MUTT
  • MUTT Pack
  • SuperMUTT with firmware version 43 or below
  • SuperMUTT Pack

Here are the steps to determine the firmware version on a SuperMUTT. If it's not version 44 or above, you need to update it.

  1. Attach the SuperMUTT to a Windows system.
  2. Open "Device Manager".
  3. Locate the “SuperMUTT” device under the “Universal Serial Bus devices” group.
  4. Double-click the "SuperMUTT" device to open the "Properties" window.
  5. On the "Details" tab, select the “Hardware Ids” property. You will see a value like: USB\VID_045E&PID_078F&REV_0044. The REV number is the firmware version number.
