Le deuxième élément de cette paire est le faible substitution. Son point de code peut passer d’U+DC00 à U+DFFF. Une substitution individuelle n’a aucune interprétation de sa propre; il est explicite uniquement lorsqu’il est utilisé dans le cadre d’une paire de substitution.
