Update an existing forwarding rule within a forwarding policy.

This API is available in the following national cloud deployments.

Permissions

Choose the permission or permissions marked as least privileged for this API. Use a higher privileged permission or permissions only if your app requires it. To make changes, the calling user must also be assigned at least one of the following Microsoft Entra roles.

  • Global Secure Access Administrator
  • Security Administrator

Request body

In the request body, supply only the values for properties that should be updated. Existing properties that aren't included in the request body maintains their previous values or be recalculated based on changes to other property values.

The following table specifies the properties that can be updated.

You must specify the @odata.type property and the value of the microsoft.graph.networkaccess.policyRule object type to update. For example, "@odata.type": "#microsoft.graph.m365ForwardingRule".

action String Action for the traffic, possible values are "forward" or "bypass". Required.

If successful, this method returns a 204 No Content response code.
