Schedule system refreshes

Completed

Items like measures and segments are dependent on the data that is being injected into your application. As the data from your data sources is refreshed, downstream processes like measures and segments will also be updated.

Initially, when you create a data source, you can specify that the data source will be refreshed manually or on a schedule. If you don't indicate that you want to use a schedule for a data source, it will not be automatically refreshed. As a result, other items in the application might not be as accurate as they should be because they're not working with the most recent version of the data.

On the Schedule tab, which is available by selecting System under the Admin heading, you can schedule automatic refreshes of all your ingested data sources. By setting up automatic refreshes, you can ensure that updates from all your data sources are reflected in your unified customer profiles.

After you've turned on the Set a time to refresh all data sources toggle, you can define the schedule that you want. The scheduling options that you can set up include:

  • Repeat - Specify how often the data sources can be refreshed. You can choose between Weekly (default) and Daily refreshes.

When you specify weekly refreshes, you can define which days that you intend to schedule weekly refreshes by selecting one or more days on which you want to run the refresh.

  • Time zone - Define the time zone that you are in.

  • Time - Specify the time that you want the data to be refreshed.

If you want the data to be refreshed more than once a day, you can add more times. For example, purchases that are being ingested into Customer Insights - Data from your point-of-sale system are likely changing throughout the day as your customers purchase items from your organization. Scheduling a refresh midday would ensure that data is available in the afternoon. Scheduling a refresh at the end of the day will ensure that all of today's purchases will be reflected at the start of the next day.

When you set up scheduled refreshes, you'll create a schedule to refresh all data sources that are being ingested. The refresh schedule doesn't allow you to refresh individual data sources on their own schedule. Scenarios might occur where you want data from individual data sources to be refreshed more frequently or in near real time. In those scenarios, you can set up incremental or real-time data refreshes.
