Perform inspections
While a technician is performing work, they can select the Work Order Service Task that has the related inspection. As they complete the inspection, they can upload files, take pictures, or upload pictures from the phone's camera roll. Furthermore, the technician can add comments while uploading a file or images.
Inspections in the mobile app
Technicians can view and complete inspections on the Field Service mobile app. To start an inspection, the technician can select the Work Order Service Task that has the related inspection.
The inspection form displays, where the technician can enter the responses.
Technicians can upload files, take pictures, or upload pictures from the phone's camera roll. When uploading a file or image, the technician can select the caption icon to add a comment.
When finished, the technician can select Mark Complete or set the Complete % field to 100.
Note
If an inspection question is required, the technician won't be able to Mark Complete until it's answered.
The technician can enter a Result to report on the overall inspection by using the following options:
Pass
Fail
Partial Success
NA
Additionally, the technician can enter the actual duration that the work order service task took to complete, which they can compare to the estimated duration.
Analyze inspection responses
In the Work Order Service Task, you can view the responses that are captured in the inspection in the Field Service app.
The responses that are captured during inspections are stored in Microsoft Dataverse. The data is stored in JSON format, which doesn't allow for analysis.
You can use Microsoft Power Automate cloud flows to extract the JSON responses and populate tables in Dataverse. The cloud flows parse and extract the inspection data and add records to the Customer Voice survey tables: Customer Voice survey question, Customer Voice survey response, and Customer Voice survey question response.
Make sure that you enable analytics for inspections for these flows to run. To enable the analytics, go to Settings > General > Field Service Settings. On the Inspection tab, set the Analytics enabled toggle to Yes and then set when the response records will be created.
No out-of-the-box reports or dashboards are provided, and you need to create your own visualizations. We recommend that you use Microsoft Power BI. The following screenshot shows an example of a Power BI dashboard for inspections.
