oobeSystem Configuration Pass (Standard 8)

7/8/2014

Review what happens in the oobeSystem configuration pass in Windows Embedded 8 Standard (Standard 8).

The oobeSystem pass configures settings that are applied during the first-boot experience for end-users, also known as Windows Welcome. oobeSystem settings are processed before a user first logs into Windows Embedded 8 Standard (Standard 8).

Out-of-Box-Experience (OOBE) runs the first time that the user starts a new device. OOBE runs before the Standard 8 shell or any additional software runs, and performs a small set of tasks that are required to configure and run Standard 8.

The following illustration shows how of Windows Welcome works.

You can configure Standard 8 to start Windows Welcome by running sysprep /oobe. By default, after you run Image Builder Wizard (IBW), Windows Welcome starts.
