windowsPE Configuration Pass (Standard 8)

7/8/2014

Review what happens in the windowsPE configuration pass in Windows Embedded 8 Standard (Standard 8).

The windowsPE configuration pass configures settings that are specific to Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) 4.0 and settings that apply to the image installation.

For example, you can specify the display resolution of Windows PE 4.0 or specify where you want to save a log file.

The following illustration shows the windowsPE pass.

In the windowsPE pass, you can also specify Image Builder Wizard (IBW) settings. These settings include the following:

  • Partition and format a hard disk.
  • Select a specific Windows Embedded 8 Standard (Standard 8) image to install, the path of that image, and any credentials required to access that image.
  • Select a partition on the destination computer where you install Standard 8.
  • Apply a product key and administrator password.
  • Run specific commands during IBW.
