KB5003217 OS settings cannot be opened

Win 10 LTSC 1809, update to this KB5003217, the setting cannot be opened, it will cause a crash. remove this KB5003217, the setting can be opened and used normally, is there any abnormality in this KB file??, or there are other ways to eliminate it?

I check the May 20, 2021-KB5003217 (OS Build 17763.1971) Preview website, KB article doesn’t mentioned settings app crash or hand issue.

Maybe this KB has some compatibility issue on your software, try to clean boot computer to check result.
Also, you could switch to another user account for test.

If issue still exits, uninstall KB5003217 and wait for the next update.

Yes this appears to be the solution for now. Hopefully MS is aware of this and resolves before the mainstream release in June.

I have tried to uninstall KB5003217.it can be problem eliminated after , and the OS is also try reinstalled. As long as the is updated to KB5003217, the same problem will occur. It seems that this problem can only be.wating next update.
P.S. But not just one of them, but multiple computers update to this KB5003217, this problem has occurred

I can confirm the update KB5003646 fixes the problem on the Dutch version of LTSC 2019.

Hi David and Michel,
did you first uninstall KB5003217 or how did it go? In my case, OS Settings can't be opened anymore (which I assume was the case on your machines as well). This means you did not have access to the Windows Update Screen.
How did you do the Update to KB5003646? Directly from Powershell or what was your approach?

Yes, first uninstall the problematic update KB5003217, and then you will need to restart your computer. Once you check for updates again, this update will no longer appear and everything will work correctly. You can uninstall the update from the programs and features section.

Hi Jurgen,

In my case the KB5003217 was installed on a test laptop and I didn't uninstall it. Therefore I couldn't access Settings but Windows Update ran in the background today after I turned on the laptop and installed KB5003646. After rebooting Settings could be used again. We use GPO to install updates on all workstations.

If Windows Update doesn't run you could use Powershell or command line to run Windows update.

You don´t need to access Windows Update, it will do by his own when looks for updates. But if you want to do it manually, you can access typing "updates" or something like this, in spanish "actual...".
I haven´t checked with the powershell script, but as it is a regular update, I think it will do.

Hi Robert,
yes, I am aware of that. The problem is, I might look at around 100 Tablets which I need to fix. Therefore I am curious to see if I can download and install KB5003646 directly via Powershell and thr WindowsUpdateProvider module (if it is there, because MS kept on adding and removing that module frequently in Powershell).
If I get a hold of a System I'll give it a try and let you know.
